Introduction to the Course:

Analysis and Use of Evidence is intended to support better decision making in the policy process, from formulation to implementation, by placing the best available evidence from research and evaluation at the heart of it.

Learning Objectives:

  • The meaning, potential and development of evidence-based policy-making
  • How to use research evidence to develop policy strategically
  • The role of evidence-based policy in results-based and performance-managed government
  • How different types of research and evaluation can contribute to policy-making
  • Critical appraisal and use of research evidence
  • Use of different professional analytical services (information specialists, social researchers, statisticians, operational analysts)

Expected Impact/Outcome:

  • Be able to Make critical judgments about evidence from research and evaluation and how this fits
  • With other factors that influence and inform policy-making
  • Ability to Guide and Mentor colleagues in evidence-based policy-making and in how to use research evidence
  • Procure and manage research and evaluation, and professional analytical services, effectively and efficiently

Eligibility Criteria for All Our Programmes:

  • Hold a minimum Education at a Degree Level from a recognised Institution
  • Have a minimum of Three Years of Experience at work at the minimum level of Senior Officer/Manager  in a Public/Private or Civil Society organisation with decision making/leadership or accountability level which involves managing people, projects, teams or finances
  • Speak and write fluent English
